**Special Limited Edition**

BY POPULAR DEMAND
(Several of you requested this one but Nancy over at Away We Go asked first so she gets the shout out!)

SHARE A SPOON has been replaced by SHARE A STRAW

Not to be confused with Bootylicious

This is FRUITYLICIOUS

One of my most favorite drinks ever is Fresh Cherry Limeade.  I love it!  When I was a kid I remember going with my mom to this sandwich stand and every time we went she would order a fresh cherry limeade, which was a special order for her.  Everywhere else we went she would order water with lemon or a Diet Coke (Tab when I was really little.)  I grew to love it because it was "special".  To this day, lime is my favorite flavor.  Lime candies, lime baked goods, and LIMEADE is the best.

Here's my recipe for FRESH LIMEADE:

2 Cups of sugar
2 Cups of water
1/2 Cup of honey
2 1/2 Cups fresh squeezed lime juice

In a saucepan, over medium-high heat, combine sugar, honey and water.  Cook until the sugar is dissolved (4-5 mins.)  Remove from heat and let cool completely.

In a gallon picture or a jug add the fresh squeezed lime juice and the simple syrup that is cooled.

Now, for regular limeade just fill the rest of the gallon with water.  Stir well and serve over ice with lime slices.

For Cherry Limeade, after you combine the simple syrup and lime juice, add a bottle of Marischino cherries.  Fill the rest of the jug/picture with Club Soda.  This is SOOOOO worth the little bit of effort required to make it.  PROMISE!

Next up?

A more sophisticated grown-up beverage.  For those of you who indulge in the spirits.  The Capital Grille has a signature cocktail that is a bit dangerous.  DANGEROUSLY smooth I tell you.  Their original is called a Stoli-Doli.  It's Stolichnaya vodka steeped in fresh pineapple.

You can really use any vodka you prefer.

1 Liter of Vodka (Absolut works nicely)
1 Fresh Pineapple cut up

Pour the vodka over the fresh pineapple in a container with a tight fitting lid.  Put it in the refrigerator and allow the two to infuse.  The longer the two sit together the more mellow the bite of the alcohol.  I was told by the bartender at Capital Grille in Jacksonville, they let their signature mix steep for at least 11 days.  However, they use HUGE glass jars and loads of pineapple and Stoli.  At home, 4-5 days works quite nicely.

In a cocktail shaker over ice pour the infused vodka.  Shake well and serve in a martini glass!  ENJOY!

As you can see in the photo (compliments of Google Images) when shaken this tini is quite frothy.  It's very smooth, and very dangerous.  Or so I hear.

Well, there you have it Smackers.  The first Edition ever of Share a Straw.  We will do this again.  Probably a Limited Holiday Edition for sure.  Any drink recipe, smoothie recipe, punch, or spirit recipe is welcome today.  So put your straw in a glass and linky-loo up with us!

Tune in tomorrow.  I am going to highlight some of the ladies who OWNED IT this week!  If you are putting together your list lemme know and I will add you to the post!

Love!  Eat, DRINK and BE MARY!  Or be yourself, whichever you prefer.

Oh, YUM! I'm lazy and just get limeades from Sonic. ;)

I bet that honey really makes that first drink.

I've done the pineapple one a few times. A local restaurant does the same thing and adds a cup of simple syrup to each batch per bottle of vodka. I did it without, like you did and it's fantastic. Even better when you eat the pineapple afterwards.
