No vacancy...

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

On Sunday,  I spent the entire day on the couch with BDC.  Occasionally we shared it with dogs, or kids.  It was an enjoyable Mother's Day.  We watched movies.  A LOT of them.  I don't know if it's just me or what, but there are not that many good movies to watch.

We watched The Lovely Bones.  It was terrible.  We watched Couples Retreat with Vince Vaughn.  It was mediocre.  We watched Did you Hear about the Morgans?  I love Hugh Grant, but it was just o.k.  We watched Up in the Air, with George Clooney, and while I love George, it was um.....boring.  I can't believe it was nominated for all those awards.  WHY?  The Princess and the Frog was probably the highlight of the day and we watched that one first.  It was for sure classic Disney.  Last I watched 2012.  BDC fell asleep, and it was just meh...

None of us ever sit and watch movies all day like that, nobody in this house can sit still long enough, but since everyone has had the crud, we all enjoyed a day of downtime no matter how bad the movies were.

What the hell is with the cold and flu season this year?  We have had every single thing that has past through this season.  Seriously, it has been terrible.  And I for one am damn tired of being sick.  I am putting a sign on the door that clearly states NO VACANCY!  So whatever flu, allergy, cold, sniffle, sneeze, snot, puke, diarrhea, fever, ache, whatever that comes by next will know that we have had all we can stand here.  Move right along.  You are not welcome.

So if anyone needs me....I will be fumigating.  Spraying down every single nook and cranny of my house with Lysol.  I may run down to the local warehouse club and pick up a vat of antibacterial gel, also known as OCD juice according to Kamden, and slather it all over everything just as an added precaution.

Last, all the bathrooms are getting a new soap dispenser!  Have you seen the new No-Touch Hand Soap System by Lysol?  No more little boy grimy filthy nasty hands all over my soap dispensers?  WIN!  This is so cool.  I have been wanting touchless soap dispensers forever.  I know that I will have to keep batteries around for it to work properly, but I am o.k. with that.  At this point, I will go to any lengths to keep my brood healthy!

I have been looking at these No-Touch soap dispensers. Costco had this one for like $65! I'm thinking the Lysol version would be a little more reasonable.

Up in the air - disappointing. Waste of time.
I would love to watch The Princess and the Frog!

Hope you all feel better soon and get rid of the crud!

I like Vince Vaughn...he makes me laugh. Sorry your movies were a disappointment and SOOO sorry bout the icky cooties taking up residence in your crib.

Shoosh....I'm fixin' to fumegate my crib too....

I still haven't watched the Princess and the Frog. :/

Out of your list I've only seen Couple Retreat which I agree was just ok. I still need to see Princess and the Frog!

Hope the clan is feeling better today!

I haven't seen Lovely Bones because I don't watch movies where little girls get murdered or raped. Couples Retreat was disappointing because it looked like it would be so funny.

I just watched Up in the Air this weekend and I don't know how I feel about it. It wasn't good, but I didn't hate it. I think I am just feeling like it wasn't enough.

I hope you all feel better soon!

Well I'm glad you relaxed despite the not so great movies.

And...can you come fumigate my place too?

Not that we have been sick, but it just sounds like a really good idea.

Lemme know when.

(That's a loaded statement, eh?)

Ugggh allergies are so much all up in my face also. This has been the worst year yet for them so far!

And hubs just got over being sick, so we are well overdue for a fumigation.

Even though the movies all kind of sucked, I'm glad you had a day to relax! Too bad about The Lovely Bones. The book was so good!

We never watch movies around this house. Nobody will shut up or sit still long enough. :(

Hope you guys feel better soon! I'm cracking up over the OCD Juice.

I've heard all sorts of bad stuff about those movies.
Excpet Princess and the frog.
And Up In The Air WAS meh.

I did NOT understand why Up in the Air got so many props. I walked out of that movie and said "WTF?" There was no lesson, no major life change. It was weird. And it was totally boring.

Princess and the Frog, awesome. Love that movie. The music is so great.

Hope everyone gets to feeling better soon!

You have reminded me why I prefer books over movies. Thankfully, I won't need to waste my time with any of the ones you warned us about. So, thanks!

And, good luck with the decontaminaion project. Just don't send the germs this way!

I actually liked all those movies, but I havent seen the Up In The Air one. Doesnt sound vey good though.

I liked Lovely Bones til the end. That was just the dumbest ending ever.

Fumigation sounds like a great idea. We have been lucky enough to avoid all the really nasty bugs but the pollen has totally taken over.

Couples Retreat was lame. If you saw the commercial, you pretty much saw the movie. I haven't seen the others but I trust your critiques and will now avoid them.

I would enjoy getting disinfected over a movie any 'ole day!

We have had all the crud over here too and it is time for it to move right along!

Yuck Yuck Yuck!! I hope things get back to normal soon! We both have chatted about our fear of puke so I don't envy you!

Those Lysol thingies sound pretty cool!

Yes!! This season is so bad and we too have had EVERYFUCKINGTHING run through this house.

Let me know how you like those soap dispensers.

Happy Belated Mother's Day, Brandee! Your couch/movie day sounds AWESOME, I'm just sorry the movies sucked.

I want that touchless soap dispenser---this is the first I've seen it. Must get one ASAP!

dude. you are so right. lots of movies are rather shitty, and 2 hours is a LONG TIME to waste watching them. i just watched precious. um, it wasn't that great. if you need a good cry and/or want to see a brutal movie about abuse, incest, etc., rent precious. ay yi yi. the acting was good and all, but............ay yi yi!

hope you all feel better soon. the bugs are way too strong lately! bleh!

I was just thinking about ....where in the world you have been!! Glad you are feeling better. I like that soap thingie. Have you seen the new paper hand towels for bathroom? Probably not the best for "going green" but hey when you have sickness in the house ...it would help.

Oh, nuts! Movie madness at a meh level? Yucky. Hey, when you are done...come on over here for some of that Lysol. A person can never have enough. LOL.

Maybe I should stop sleeping so much and catch up on movies. I've only seen 2012 out of that list. I'm a slacker.

Dual Mom said...

You're run down - you're probably ALL run down, it makes you more prone to sickness. It's understandable with the crazy 6 months that you've had.

And hey Zgirl, have you ever thought dousing your house in antibacterial gel might be doing more harm than good...I'm just saying, please don't hit me. :0)

GunDiva said...

Okay, I've got to give you crap for the no-touch soap dispensers. You do know that after you touch the pump on a traditional hand soap dispenser, you wash your hands, right? So any goobers that you might get on your hands from the pump should be washed right off if you wash properly.

Other than laughing about the brilliance of the marketing dept for that no-touch thingy-ma-do-hicky, I'm sorry you've had the crud lurking around your house.

I'm so sad.... You didn't like 'Up In The Air'? I still need to see that movie, but now I'm scared to see it....

Princess and the Frog was great!

Wish I could have gotten my eyes open sooner to have read this, I can so F-E-E-L your pain, I would have loved to have watched movies on Sunday, trouble was I couldn't get my damn eyes to stay open without toothpicks!

Hope you're feeling better and I think I just might order one of those No Vacancy signs on my door too!

I'm more of a sci/fi and fantasy movies type of gal. Did watch the Princess and the Frog;it was cute and funny. I can't stand romance or chick flicks--although, I do like anything with Sandra Bullock in it.

I was all sick last two weeks too. What the heck is in the air? Emma was sick first and then me, but I had the pukes as well!!
