The Duck Tank

Friday, May 21, 2010

Tears are the silent language of grief.
~Voltaire

As Daffy is a sign language interpreter, I thought the quote was appropriate.  We can all speak sign with my Ducky today.  My tank is brackish tonight from all the tears.  Not good for a pretty fantailed goldfish I tell ya!  We prefer ammonia to salt.

Many friends come and go in our lives.  We meet some that only share a moment.  We meet others who stay awhile and then move on.  We have others still, that are part of our lives from childhood forward.  Then we meet the few who touch our lives so deeply whether it is for a moment, an hour, a day, or a lifetime our lives are forever changed for knowing them.

When we are fortuitous enough to meet those few, we are better for it.  They bring out the best in us.  We bring out the best in them.

Having best gal pals is something that most women need to feel whole.  Everyone knows that girlfriends are the best.  There are many of us though who do not fit that bill.  We are different.  Intimidating to other women.  Fit in better with the boys.  Considered "just one of the guys", well at least to other girls.  (Note:  guys never really consider us just one of them.  Boobies ya know.)

Anytatas, my BB chat group has blessed me with those best gal pal relationships that all of us never really had before.  A close knit group of women who share everything.  Sorrow, joy, tears, laughter, happiness and pain. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't talk and laugh and share our lives.  We are like a Virtual Sex in Many Cities, Real Housewives of Blogland Reality Show via Crackberry.  (Yes, it's as neurotic as you are envisioning, and then some.  But it's ours so shutyerpieholes.)

You all know that I am a movie quote freak.  Super Freak actually.  This is one of my favorites:

A fish may love a bird, but where would they live?
~Danielle De Barbarac (Drew Barrymore)

My heart is heavy, and I cannot express how deep my empathy for The Duck, her family and loved ones runs.  Please continue to pray for comfort and strength for them as they grieve the loss of a daughter, mother, sister, wife and friend.

There are two bodies — the rudimental and the complete ; corresponding with the two conditions of the worm and the butterfly. What we call "death," is but the painful metamorphosis. Our present incarnation is progressive, preparatory, temporary. Our future is perfected, ultimate, immortal. The ultimate life is the full design

Brandee, you brought tears to my eyes today. Thank you for writing this so we can all feel connected and supportive during this terrible time for Daffy and her family. Having been in Daffy's shoes myself, I am just heartbroken for them.

Hugs to you,
Deb

Its so sad, and all so fast blessings to their family. Is that the same medical problem Brett Michaels almost lost his life to recently?

I was brought this way by Melissa from Day 2 Day. I am in tears and have everyone in my prayers. I donated to monkey and will donate to the scholarship when I get paid again. I have experienced loss myself and it brings it all back and hurts me all over again to see the family going through this. Here's a movie quote: "When God closes one door, somewhere he opens a window." (Old school, sound of music)
